MODULE 4

Assessments with AI

Module number four, titled "Assessments with AI," is the final module of this specialization course. I was truly excited to begin this new module, and my expectations were high as I wondered what else we would learn. The things I learned in the previous three modules were extremely beneficial, so I hoped to learn innovative and important things that would improve my teaching abilities. I was especially curious about how AI could help with assessments and couldn't wait to start.

The fourth module was the last one, but it was also very important because we learned interesting things about using AI for assessments. Assessment is a process that teachers or instructors use to evaluate students' progress. There are three types of assessments: diagnostic, formative, and summative. Nowadays, artificial intelligence has a transformative role in education, particularly in the area of assessment. It's not just about automating grading; it's also about creating a more personalized and efficient learning experience for both students and teachers. First, we learned about tools that help create personalized rubrics and feedback. I was genuinely impressed and never imagined that AI could do something like that. I particularly liked Brisk Teaching and Magic School because they are excellent and easy-to-use apps with many functions. They are a great option when grading activities or homework, such as a multiple-choice quiz or an essay.

Second, we learned about tools that can help with creating evaluation materials for students, like quizzes or exams. This was really surprising because a quiz can be created in just a few minutes. Teachers sometimes struggle to create quizzes because they have many other things to do, but with tools like Quizalize and Way Ground AI, this task can be done very quickly. Of course, teachers must revise the work to avoid errors or inappropriate questions. However, with correct and responsible use, these tools are truly beneficial.

In conclusion, assessing with AI may seem a bit intimidating, but it's a powerful tool that can help us provide students with more personalized feedback. Using AI in assessment also comes with a big responsibility. We need to be thoughtful about how we use it, ensuring it's fair, transparent, and always focused on helping students learn and grow. We should embrace AI's potential to enhance our teaching and learning while remaining centered on the human connection that makes education so special. The key is to be open to the future but to do so with care and kindness.

I created a 10-question multiple-choice quiz to evaluate knowledge of comparative adjectives.

I created a quiz on a YouTube video by inserting five questions in different parts of the video.
